SEGA intends to “redraw” the Sonic brand with a completely new game
The Sonic game series will be debuted with a very different style.
Recently, SEGA announced that it will continue to develop a new game from the Sonic brand, expected to launch at the end of 2024. Accordingly, this game is called Sonic Rumble – a product in collaboration with Rovio (“father” of Angry Birds) will be available on both iOS and Android platforms.
With Sonic Rumble, this is the newest game, built with a quite familiar party game style. This is the common motif of famous blockbusters such as Fall Guys, Play Together… In this game, gamers will travel into a multidimensional simulation world created by Dr. Eggman. To be able to overcome dramatic races and many difficult challenges, gamers will have to compete with 31 other opponents to survive and stand firm to the end.
There are five game modes in Sonic Rumble and they are divided into three rounds. The first round includes all 32 gamers and will eliminate up to half of the contestants. The second round will be randomly selected from three options: Survival, Hunt or Team. The third round consists of the final 8 players who will fight in a Ring format, competing for scores and becoming the only dominant player.
Although it has been cherished for a long time, it was only recently that SEGA revealed more detailed information about this exciting game. Currently, SEGA will open the first test version this winter and limited to the US market. The company affirmed that this is the first necessary move for the development team to balance and optimize the game. There is a high possibility that by 2025, Sonic Rumble will be expanded globally and become a new potential rookie in the international gaming industry.
For those who don’t know, Sonic (Sonic the Hedgehog) is SEGA’s flagship brand, and one of the best-selling video game series in history. Sonic the blue hedgehog is also considered one of the rare characters representing the culture of the 90s, receiving love and being an indispensable part of the childhood of every gamer around the world.
